Stomorska - Solta

In the southeast of Solta is the Uvala Stomorska with the municipal marina, here you can find a berth on the east shore quay (WT 2.5 -3m) with mooring buoy. On the east side Kanoba Volat also has moorings for guests of the restaurant. Behind the wide short breakwater is the old harbor basin for local small boats. Here is also one of the supermarkets. In the sheltered bay you can anchor well in front of the harbor on a good 6-8m water depth. The village with its historical buildings, the old fieldstone houses and the church is worth a walk. A diving center is located a bit outside, just before Rt. Stomorska. Hikers will find a shore path northward to Rt. Necujam. A shorter tour leads south around the small peninsula, past Rt. Pelegrinski to Uvala Piscena and back through the resort. Stomorska, is the oldest port on the island, because of the many pirate raids, the settlements were hidden in the mountains until the 18th century. Here lived fishermen and sailors who transported with their sailing ships island products - wood, lime, meat, fish, olive oil, wine, almonds, carob, figs and honey - which were brought to Italy. Today it is possible to book boat tours to the Croatian islands. Above the village there are a number of prehistoric tumuli and on Vela Straža, with 236m the highest mountain of the island are the ruins of an Illyrian fortress. On the western shore of the bay is an old lime kiln, built in 1916, because in the hinterland were many lime kilns.
