The Marine National Park Karaburun-Sazan is since 2010 a marine protected area with 1sm wide along the coast of the peninsula Karaburun and the island Sazan.
The park with about 25,000 ha area protects a 50 km long coastline. Not protected are the waters off the jetty on Karaburun and the southern part of the Bay of Vlora off Karaburun - both bases of the Albanian Navy.
The peninsula of Karaburun and the mountain range Rrëza e Kanalit adjoining to the south are also nature reserves, bordering to the south with the National Park Llogara.
In the National Park lie the wrecks of many ancient Greek and Roman ships as well as warships from World War 2. A rich  marine flora and above water cliffs with caves and secluded bays. In Grama Bay, sailors who anchored here for thousands of years have carved writings in the rock.

The area is very remote, undeveloped and untouched. It can only be reached by sea or on foot, as the only road to the uninhabited peninsula of Karaburun passes through the naval base Orikum
As a military base, the island of Sazan is not accessible. Boat trips are offered from Vlora to Haxhi Ali Cave, named after an 18th century buccaneer from Ulcinj is the largest sea cave in Albania with 30m length and 10m wide entrance.
