Sušac has been part of the protected area of the Lastovo Nature Park since 2006.
The island is uninhabited and sometimes fishermen, beekeepers,
shepherds with their flocks come to the island and tourists in the
summer.
For some time there have been holiday apartments in the lighthouse
built in 1878 and so the lighthouse keeper has some entertainment
at least in the summer.
In ancient times - the island was called Choasa, in the Middle
Ages Cazza and one found ruins of Roman buildings and the church of
St. Blasius (15th century).
The legend tells that in the year 1000 the Venetians near the
island with 10 galleys captured the 40 trading ships of
the Narentans, who were on the return trip
from Apulia
