Description

The "Coves del Drac is a stalactite cave system on the east coast of Mallorca.
The whole steep coast around Porto Cristo is interspersed with countless caves and rock overhangs, whose entrances are at sea level or below, such as the old pirate caves - Cala Falcó, the Cova des Moro, Cova des Pirata or the Cova des Pont.
The larger cave systems such as Coves del Drac and the smaller "Coves dels Hams" are now developed for tourism. Smaller caves are also located in the Cala Manacor. The Cova de Sa Patroneta, the Coves Blanques and the "Cova des Correu". The "Coves Blanques" are natural caves, which were worked in talaiotic time by humans, later they served seamen and fishermen as a refuge.
The stalactite cave system of the 1.7km long "Coves del Drac" is 1km walkable with the largest underground lake in Europe and one of the world's largest - "Llac Martel" -17m long, 40m wide and 9m deep. Today, concerts are performed here with musicians who drift in boats through the grotto, illuminated by light shows.
