Ems-Jade Canal

The Ems-Jade Canal provides the connection between the Jade Bay and the Ems inland. With a length of 72.3 km, it is state water and is operated by the Lower Saxony State Agency for Water Management, Coastal and Nature Conservation (NLWKN). The maximum permitted speed is 8 km/h, the clear passage height at normal water level is 3.80m and the maximum unloading depth is 1.7m.

    Route Upschört lock Mariensiel-Upschört: Mondays u. Fridays (registration - 2 days before under 04956/1207)
    Mo.-.Fr. start times:08.00 clock and 13.00 clock end 17.00 clock
    Convoy trips from11.04. to start peak season and  end peak season until 30.11.
  • 13.11.2023 - 12.03.2024 (winter season)
    Route Emden-Sanderbusch-Emden: weekdays 08:00-14:30 clock, until 16.00 clock on registration

Vom 1. September 2022 bis vorraussichtlich Ende April 2023 ist die Eisenbahnbrücke in Mariensiel für die Schifffahrt gesperrt. Eine durchgehende Fahrt nach Wilhelmshaven ist somit nicht möglich!
