Müritz
The Müritz is with 117 km2 the largest (pure) German inland lake.
At its greatest extent, the body of water has a length of 28 km and
is almost 14 km wide. If you want to sail on the Müritz, it is
essential that you obtain up-to-date weather information
beforehand.
Emergency call in the event of a lake emergency Waren rescue
control centre: Emergency call 112 (also for sea emergencies).
Alternatively, the DRK emergency control center Waren (DRK water
rescue Müritz with 4 rescue boats): Tel. 03991/18210.
Water police inspection Waren, Tel. 03991/7473-0. The VHF channel
16 is listened to by the WSP only when their boats are in use.

Radio: NDR 1 - Radio Mecklenburg - Vorpommern (MV), UKW 88.5 MHz,
every full hour a simple radio weather report with general wind
forecast.
SMS:There are several paid providers of SMS weather reports. At
www.windfinder you can order a comprehensive weather report also
marine weather report on SMS. This portal also provides free wind
and weather report on the Internet.
Internet: call "www.wetteronline.de" and select location.
Comprehensive weather report of the DWD, detailed wind forecasts
and other data are available.
Telephone announcement: 0900-111604050. Spoken weather report,
including detailed wind forecast, for the Berlin and Mecklenburg
Lake District.
Caution: In the shore courses Kleine Kuhle, Steinhorn, Großer
Schwerin and at the Polschen Steen stony shallow water areas reach
500m far into the Müritz. You should never shortcut between land
and the buoy line here. East of the shoal Großer Steinhaufen
shallower depths have been reported at low tide (approx. 1.5m).
