Description

Melna is a small boat harbor on the island of Goli, between Krk and Rab. The two piers have 4m water depth on the inner side, on the quay wall it is about 2m, the northeast corner is stony and shallow.
In summer, excursion boats are moored here and when the wind comes up, the harbor is unsafe- it is at most a day place. There is little activity on the barren island today. In the southern bay is a restaurant in the summer. The island Goli was actually a barren sheep island, before the 1st World War then an Austrian prison island for Russian prisoners, from 1945 to 1988 a prison island of the Yugoslavian KPD - with a men's camp. On the neighboring island Grgur Otok was the women's camp - on  both islands were 11,000 - 18,000 prisoners imprisoned.
