NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach to the unlit harbour is possible day and night, but you should be aware of the at times very strong setting current.

Berths

The harbour is mostly heavily occupied by local boats - therefore offers little space. Guests can berth on free places after consultation with the harbour master on 2.5m water depth.

Surroundings

Except for the gourmet restaurant "Kongebrogården" at the harbour, there is no supply possibility nearby. To Middelfart 1,5km.

NV Land Guide

The harbour is situated in wooded surroundings one kilometre from Middelfart. Directly at the harbour there is only a hotel-restaurant and a small wooden house of the sailing club with sanitary facilities and lounge, which may also be used by harbour guests.

Southwest on the other side of the headland lies Hindsgavl, one of the royal residences of the Middle Ages. Sadly, there is not much left to see of the medieval castle, which is about half an hour's walk from the harbour. Swedish wars and storm surges are responsible for this. A new noble residence was built at the former site of the castle in the 18th century. Contemporaries described this building as architecturally unsuccessful. But even if you share this view, the walk to this historic site is worthwhile for the beautiful view over the Little Belt alone. In addition, the manor barn of Hindsgavl Castle is set up as a museum Prehistoric from the hunter culture around 4000 BC, the historic dolphin fishery in Gamborg Fjord, the castle system on the Little Belt and the development of the town of Middelfart are the topics of the exhibitions.

Another, now historic building right by the harbour is hard to miss and even harder to miss: the old bridge over the Little Belt. In 1935 it was inaugurated as a combined road and railway bridge at the narrowest point of the Little Belt. The Bridgewalking Lillebælt offers the opportunity for a walk of a special kind, unique in Europe. As part of a two-hour group tour (booking required), you'll be taken to lofty heights of up to 60m high above the Little Belt. It's a real tummy-tickler - and not just when the railway rumbles over the structure below.

A path leads along the water to Middelfart in 15 minutes.
