NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach is only recommended during the day, the two fairways (west and south channel) to the harbor are variable and unlit. The fairway (2.4m) runs between Horneland (Funen) and the islands of Illum and Vigø; it is marked with red and green buoys (1.4.-15.11.). The fairway between Illum and the Helnæs peninsula (3.7m) is also buoyed. From here (WP 114), the approach is made at approx. 60° past the island of Vigø until the fairway to Faldsled marked with 2 shallow buoys is reached.

NV Land Guide

Faldsled is known beyond the borders of Denmark for its Kro. Restaurant guides praise the cuisine of the "Falsled Kro", which is just 200 meters from the harbour, to the skies. However, the exquisite dishes at this once royally privileged restaurant come at a price. Gourmets who are not deterred by this should book a table in advance. It is also appreciated if you leave your sailing gear on board.

The cozy harbour of Faldsled is located at the end of the bay of Helnæs. It was once important as a grain transshipment point, but could only be used by small ships due to the shallow water. Today, pleasure craft have taken over the harbor, which is popular with families due to its shallow beaches and a children's playground right next to the moorings.

The town and surrounding area offer pretty half-timbered houses, forests and good beaches. You can hike the Fyn Alps or walk south to Horne Church (a good hour's walk, see also Bøjden). This church is one of the seven round churches that still exist in Denmark. The church, which is unique on the island of Fyn, with a large crucifix dating from 1500, is situated on a hill and offers a sweeping view over the Fyn Alps. However, only the part of the round church built around 1100 is round; many additions over the centuries have changed its character.

A building worth seeing in the north of Helnæs Bay is the three-winged Renaissance courtyard Løgismose with an onion-shaped tower roof. Originally, the courtyard was a large late medieval brick house, which later became the northern wing of the complex. The distance to Faaborg is about 10 kilometers.

Sehr ruhig gelegener Hafen.
