Navigation

The approach to the illuminated bridge is unproblematic during the day and at night with some caution also possible. It is done from the north directly to the bridgehead.

Berths

Guest boats are moored on the north and west side of the jetty at 1.5 - 2m water depth. In onshore and strong winds this berth is very rough.

Surroundings

There are no utilities of any kind.

NV Land Guide

The whole peninsula of Varnæshoved on the south side of the Aabenraa fjord is a protected area. The landscape here is especially characterized by its wealth of curtilage. You can walk along the cliffs, some of which are 20 metres high. An idyllic forest lake, Skovsø, located about one kilometre from Varnaæs Vig, makes this area by the fjord a popular recreation area.

Sights such as the church of Varnæs, three kilometres south of the harbour near the village of the same name, are rare. The panel of the winged altar of the Romanesque church is remarkable. It dates from 1480.

A neck iron inside the place of worship reminds us that during the Middle Ages, the church occasionally indulged in "God's will"' when the pews remained empty. Anyone who did not respect the holiday was put in the pillory in defiance of the commandment to love one's neighbour.

Shopping facilities are available in the village of Varnæs, two kilometres south of Varnæs Vig. Only a few buildings stand by the jetty at Varnæs Vig, including a former hotel, but it is now used as a gallery.
