Description

Small harbour at the northern end of the almost uninhabited island of Saltholm (no detailed plan).

NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach is only recommended for those who know the area. A privately buoyed, 800m long dredged channel (target depth 1.6m) leads to the harbour with a leading light 115° (2 Iso R.4s/ 2s). The channel and the small harbour basin tend to silting up.

Berths

Only a few berthing possibilities with 1.6m water depth. The berth for the supply boat must be kept free.

Surroundings

Besides a restroom, there are no service or utility facilities.

NV Land Guide

The small harbour at the northern end of the island, which is a protected nature reserve, offers limited mooring facilities. There are only two permanently inhabited farmsteads and a handful of individual houses on Saltholm, which has been managed by a community of owners since 1873.

Nature and bird lovers get their money's worth here in the island's seclusion on the one hand and with views of the Sound or the neighbouring island of Peberholm on the other. The idyll is only slightly spoiled by the location at the entry/departure lane of Kastrup Airport.

The northern tip of the island with the small harbour is accessible all year round. The middle part is closed during the breeding season from April 1 to July 15. At the southern tip there is a year-round closed protection zone for birds and seals.
