Description

Modern fishing harbour on the north-east coast of Bornholm.

NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach to the fired harbour is unproblematic day and night. Steering a southerly course, head for the Tejn fire (Oc.WRG.5s) at night in the white sector (head for the church during the day). When the bearing of the leading light (2 Iso.G.4s or 2s) is in cover at 144.4°, you can approach the harbour.

Berths

Sport boats lie sheltered in the small marina basin of the Tejn Sailing Club on water depths of 1.5 - 2.5m or on the quays of the East Basin on water depths of 2.2 - 3.5m.

The Middle and West Basins are reserved for fishermen.

Surroundings

In this busy fishing port you will find good supply facilities (bunker station, repair service) directly at the harbour. On the quay of the east basin is the harbour office with exemplary sanitary facilities and coin-operated washing machines.

NV Land Guide

The fishing village is not particularly cozy and offers no sights apart from a small Bockmühle. But the Ols church, three kilometres southwest of Tejn, is worth a visit. With a height of 30 metres, it is the highest round church in Bornholm and is considered to be the most beautiful. The fortified church is 110 metres above sea level. The massive tower built of granite stones can be seen from a distance. Faith reigned on the ground floor, and the force of arms on the third floor. Enemies were received from nine large embrasures.

Towards the north, a path leads along the beach from Tejn to Allinge. After about a kilometre's walk, you will pass the beautiful bathing beach of Sandkås.

The rocky landscape to the south of the fishing village leads to the Helligdorms cliffs, a bizarre rock formation three kilometres away. It was once a much-visited place of pilgrimage because the cliffs' springs were believed to have healing properties. The cliffs are also known for their grottos and caves, "Sorte Gryde", "Tørre Ovn" and "Gåserenden".

There are boat trips to the cliffs from Gudhjem (see Gudhjem). It is advisable not to venture too close to the cliffs in your own boat.

Two kilometres southeast of Tejn, you will find a number of Stone Age graves on the coast, as well as the star-shaped stone setting of Stammershalle. Finds of flints near the stone setting prove that people lived here as early as the Stone Age. Tejn's new harbour, which is to be extended again in the coming years, is home to a large fishing fleet. Large cutters sail from here to the Gulf of Bothnia and off the coast of Poland to catch Baltic salmon. Thus, the life and hustle and bustle of the harbour is determined by fishing. Here you can marvel at a modern slipway with air lift, which makes it a matter of minutes to launch the cutters. A smokehouse is located near the harbour.

New washrooms, a coin-operated laundry and a supermarket directly at the harbour are compensation for the lively activity around the berths.
