Description

Picturesque small boat harbour for fishermen, connected to the coast by a bridge about 100m long.

NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach to the fired harbour is possible day and night. However, it should be done by those unfamiliar with the area only in calm weather and during the day, as the entrance to the small basins is very narrow. From 0.5 sm southeast of the harbour, you steer with 318° past the breakwater to the harbour entrance.

Berths

Few berths in the two small harbour basins. Mostly you have to go alongside with the fishermen, or in calm weather behind the breakwater at stern moorings. The water depth is about 1,5m. The berths behind the breakwater tend to silting up.

When there is a strong onshore wind, the harbour is very choppy.

Surroundings

In the cosy village you can find a good restaurant and a smokehouse in addition to supplies at the merchant. You can get diesel from the harbour master. Simple sanitary facilities are available.

NV Land Guide

Snogebæk is the best starting point for trips or hikes to the Dueodde dune area. Dueodde lighthouse stands six kilometres south of Snogebæk. With its 48 metres it is one of the highest in northern Europe. The modern design doesn't make it a feast for the eyes, but you can climb the lighthouse for a bird's-eye view of southeast Bornholm.

Snogebæk itself is a cosy fishing settlement with herring smokehouses and a decidedly lovingly decorated restaurant in several old fishermen's cottages by the harbour. Another curiosity is Snogebæk's small cod liver oil factory. A large area of holiday homes surrounds the centre of the village. Here the rugged rocky coastline of the north merges with the fine sand dunes of the south. So the place has a bit of both.

About two kilometres northwest of Snogebaek lies the bog area "Hundsemyre", which may not be entered during the breeding season of the birds. Outside the breeding season, the bird-rich moor can be viewed from a bird tower. Mute swan, grebe, coot, reed warbler and even the osprey breed here or make a stopover in the bog.
