The approach to the unlit harbour is directly from the fairway. At night you should keep a spotlight clear. When entering at about 130°, keep closer to the north breakwater, as the southern head of the breakwater tends to silt up and water depths of less than 1.5 m occur here at times.

Berths

The number of guest places is limited and requires consultation with the harbour master after mooring. The water depth is 1.5 -2 m. The ferry jetty and the pilot boat jetty may not be used by pleasure craft.

Surroundings

Besides good sanitary facilities in the clubhouse and fresh water, there are no other utilities.

NV Land Guide

This harbour, like Udbyhøj Nord opposite, is likely to interest most pleasure boaters only as a stop along the Jutland coast. The number of fjord visitors is even smaller than at the naturally beautiful Mariager Fjord, which may be due to the fact that almost exclusively the shipping channel is deep enough for the common keel yachts. Conversely, this gives keelboats the advantage of lonely moorings.

Only the landscape to the north on the Kattegat coast offers interesting nature, which is particularly notable for the diversity of bird species. This also applies to the entire Randers Fjord, where, for example, a number of storks still nest.

Near Sødringholm Castle by the forest of the same name (three kilometres to the north), several small hills provide excellent views of the Kattegat.

Bogs and heaths dominate the landscape along the coast. The paths and hardly used roads invite for walks.

The supply possibilities are few, in the opposite harbour there is a recommendable Kro. Those who prefer to rely on their own cooking skills should buy fresh fish in the harbour.

A ferry runs between Udbyhøj South and Udbyhøj Vasehuse (also called Udbyhøj North). The journey takes seven minutes.
