The approach to the fired harbour is possible day and night. It is directly accessible from the fairway of Randers Fjord.

Berths

Guests will find limited berthing facilities on the inside of the eastern breakwater at a water depth of 3m. Yachts of less than 1.3 m draft can also berth on the outside of the breakwater in calm weather. The harbour is heavily occupied by boats belonging to locals. The ferry pier west of the harbour may not be used by pleasure craft.

Surroundings

At the harbour you will find only electricity and fresh water besides simple toilet facilities.

This harbour at the exit of Randers Fjord is probably of interest to most pleasure boaters only as a stop along the Jutland coast. The number of visitors to the fjord is even smaller than at the naturally beautiful Mariager Fjord, which may be due to the fact that almost exclusively the shipping channel is deep enough for the common keel yachts. Conversely, this gives keelboats the advantage of lonely moorings.

What the village of Udbyhøj Vasehuse lacks in beauty is offered by the landscape to the north on the Kattegat coast, which also boasts a special diversity of bird species. This also applies to the entire Randers Fjord, where, for example, a number of storks still nest.

Near Sødringholm Castle by the forest of the same name (three kilometres to the north), several small hills provide excellent views of the Kattegat.

Bogs and heaths dominate the landscape along the coast. The paths and hardly used roads invite for walks.

In the harbour, the fishermen gradually hand over the reigns to the pleasure boaters, although fishing is still an important livelihood here. The standard of sanitation is not overwhelming. Those who trust in their own cooking skills should buy fresh fish in the harbour.

A ferry runs between Udbyhøj Vasehuse (also called Udbyhøj North) and Udbyhøj South opposite. The journey time is seven minutes.
