NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach to the fired harbour is possible day and night. It takes place in the white sector of the pier light at a target depth of 5 m. Keep well clear of the extensive buoyed shallows "Rödskärsgrund" to the north - and "Bjorsgardsgrunden" to the south of the harbour. In the eastern part of the outer harbour, the designated shallow water area must be observed. In strong westerly winds, there is an unpleasant bottom sea off the harbour, which can make entry and exit difficult.

Berths

Guests will find good berthing facilities in the marina on marked free spaces with water depths of 1.5 - 2.5 m. Large yachts can also berth in the fishing harbour, in consultation with the harbour master.

Surroundings

At the harbour you will find very good sanitary facilities with sauna and a coin laundry as well as repair facilities and fuel. The small village offers good supply possibilities. Otherwise there are good bus connections to Varberg 7 km away. The harbour has STF guest harbour standard.

NV Land Guide

The marina, located a little out of the way, offers all the comforts of a modern marina, even a sauna in the clubhouse. A grocery store as well as a bank and a post office can be found in the northeastern village, which is considered Halland's largest fishing village. In fact, the North Basin is a busy place for fishermen. The cutters land their catches here day and night. Large halls and storage sheds stand on the south pier in the fishing harbour.

In the village, hardly any old fishermen's cottages have been preserved. Modern suburban houses have taken their place. Sights worth seeing are rare. Only at the marina has a restaurant owner come up with an effective advertising gimmick: on a garden pond in the middle of the café terrace floats a fishing boat with a doll dressed as a fisherman casting its nets.

Sailors can choose between a barbecue restaurant, a sausage stand and a pizzeria at the moorings.

Excursion destinations to the east of the harbour include Varberg Summerland and a forest and lake area (both around five kilometres away, see Varberg). Child-friendly is the shallow beach stretching out far at the marina, which is thoroughly recommended as a quiet stopover.
