The port can be approached day and night. It takes place from the approach buoy (LFl.10s) via the well-lit fairway with a target depth of 6.5m. Current speeds of 2-3 knots can occur in the river course. In front of the harbour there is an unpleasant cross sea during onshore strong winds, caused by the river current and the coastal current standing across the harbour entrance.

Lövstaviken Marina is very busy with local boats.

There are sanitary facilities, fuel and a mast crane at the harbour, as well as good shopping facilities in the village.

The cosy Falkenberg with its 14,000 inhabitants boasts a 700-year history as a town and a beautiful location on the river Ätran. The rich salmon fishery and the catching of hunting falcons gave rise to the settlement at the mouth of the river ages ago. The salmon, which is still fished here in large quantities from 1 March to 30 September, is a symbol of the town. The town fountain near the tourist office is adorned with bronze specimens of the popular edible fish, which swim in the Ätran towards their culinary destination.

Already in the 14th century there was a castle here, the Falkenberghus, which now exists only as a ruin. By contrast, the old 13th-century St Laurentius Church still stands. Its oil paintings on wood (among them "The Last Judgement") were made around 1750 by the German master Linkmeyer, while the lime paintings are dated 100 years earlier. The baptismal font of the old church dates from the 16th century.

On the cobblestone streets of Falkenberg's beautiful old town, you can study traditional building techniques on aged wooden houses. Especially at the old market, Gaasatorgat, low 18th- and 19th-century wooden cottages provide small-town idyll.

Törngren's pottery in the old town (Potter Street), founded in 1789 and in the family for seven generations, is probably Scandinavia's oldest pottery.

The intact 18th-century toll bridge is another Falkenberg sight, where bridge tolls were still collected until 1911. Near the bridge are the remains of the aforementioned Falkenberg House. Strolls along the beautiful waterfront promenades on both sides of the Ätran are particularly recommended - the Doctor's Promenade, laid out as early as 1861 by a provincial doctor, and the Salmon Promenade.

The town museum has been set up in an old merchant's shop in St Lars Kyrkogatan. Hindström Farm in the old town, dating from 1737, and Sjöberg Farm, with a salmon smokehouse and historic fishing equipment, are attached to the museum.

East of Falkenberg, Asige is home to one of Sweden's best-known stone sites, the Bronze Age burial ground of Särestad. Svedino's Car and Aircraft Museum in Ugglarp, about two kilometres south of Falkenberg, is another attraction. A country store from grandmother's time can be found in Slöinge, about nine kilometres southeast of Falkenberg.
