Large fishing and trading port at the exit of the Ise Fjord.

NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach to the fired harbour is possible day and night. It is done via the buoyed fairway of the Østerlob. It is advisable to keep a strong spotlight clear here, as the buoys themselves are unlit. When entering, it is advisable to keep well clear of the western head of the pier, as it tends to silting up.

Berths

Guests will find very good mooring possibilities in the inner harbour and on the outside of the bridge of the middle harbour. The water depth here is 3 - 3.5m. If the inner harbour and the middle harbour are very busy, you can also go to the western part of the south harbour. The ferry harbour to the south of the fishing harbour may not be used by pleasure craft.

Surroundings

In this very lively harbour one finds all possibilities of supply (among other things also fuel with handcarts from the oil depot). There is a ferry connection to Rørvig.

NV Land Guide

Hundested is not what you'd call an idyllic harbour or town, but it is the first opportunity to moor at the entrance to the Isefjord - or the last outward from the fjord. Its ideal location makes it a busy port of call as a transit stop, with the emphasis on transit stop, for example, waiting for better weather. This may be due to the rather barren place, which was once a cosy fishing village, but still has hardly any old structures. The 6500 inhabitants live mainly in bungalow or villa areas.

The harbour, with its shipyards and workshops, offers no better appearance than the town. It can be seen from the buildings that the order situation is obviously not at its best. However, Hundested is still important as a fishing port. The catch from around 35 cutters is still offered for sale in the auction hall, but the fishermen are feeling the changes. The number of cutters is decreasing every year. At least they can take advantage of the offer of several fish shops. A new cruiser terminal is currently being built in the southern part of the harbour to attract more tourism to the region.

For those who use Hundested for more than just an overnight port, the shopping street just a few minutes' walk from the inner harbour will have been quickly discovered, and they will certainly have climbed the 41-metre Spodsbjerg (lighthouse), two kilometres north of the harbour. Immediately south of it, the Hundested Museum reminds us that the polar explorer Knud Rasmussen was a dog-stealer. The beautiful beach at the foot of the lighthouse is worth a visit - as is the Hundested Kro near the harbour, which offers Danish cuisine at reasonable prices. In the building of the Kro there is also a cosy pub and a bar that is open almost all night. On weekends, the Kro plays host to dancing, while "Jægerstuen" plays disco music.

Fridges depart from Hundested to the opposite Rørvig and to Grenaa on Jylland.

Hier ist ordentlich was los.
