The approach to the bay is only recommended during the day. Coming from the east from buoy pair 35/42, then to Tn Wi 2 and Tn Wi 1; coming from the west from buoy pair 37/44 , then to Tn Wi 2 and Tn Wi 1.

Berths

The harbour offers guest berths at 1.4 m water depth.

Surroundings

Even with winds from SW to N you are very protected in this harbour. Playing facilities for children and sanitary facilities are available near the harbour. There are several restaurants in the village. Hikes on the forested Darß and a visit to the very informative exhibition centre Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft "Darßer Arche" are worth the effort.

Because there is little water and space at the jetty, only owners of centreboard boats will venture here. Those who anchor in front of it on deeper water will only be protected in westerly winds.

It is surprising that Wieck does not have a larger harbour, because in the heyday of sailing Wieck was considered the most prosperous village on the Darss. As early as 1730, more than 30 freighters were based here. Many smaller cargo ships were launched, up to the size of a galleass. In the 19th century the whole village was set up for seafaring, all the world's oceans were sailed. So Wieck was also hit particularly hard by the decline of sailing ships, people emigrated, many houses fell into disrepair.

The Wieckers did not discover tourism until 1930. Over twenty times the number of inhabitants (800) is the average number of annual holiday guests. The campground is designed for 1,500 campers.

Some reed-roofed buildings, including a couple of Low German hall houses, still recall the old days. If the draft allows, you can also moor directly at the village inn "Alter Krug", once the seat of the school councillor and court.

The forested Darß with marked paths is, of course, excursion area number one (see Prerow map). About 1km walk west of the harbour, in the centre of Wieck, the national park centre "Darßer Arche" provides information about the different habitats and the protected area.
