Description

Protected fishing harbour in the Zicker See at the junction of the Greifswalder Bodden and the Baltic Sea.

Navigation

The approach is not lit, so it is recommended to approach only during the day. It should take place in the buoyed fairway. Coming from the Greifswalder Bodden, the approach should be made in a buoyed fairway from buoy pair T1 and T2 at the latest. 84.5° are to be steered up to buoy T8. From buoy T8 the course within the buoyed and dredged channel is 146°. Immediately before the harbour, at buoy pair T7/ T10, a course change to port is made towards the harbour entrance.

Berths

The fishing harbour also offers space for pleasure craft. There is water and electricity at the quay. The water depth is approx. 2.4 m.

Surroundings

Modern sanitary facilities are available, supply possibilities are in the place, where there are also good restaurants, a supermarket and a fish shop. The landscape invites you to go hiking.

NV Land Guide

300 m further east of the harbour, King Tourism rules the village with its campsites. The mostly single-storey houses bear names like "Stranddistel", "Waldfrieden" and "Friedenswinkel". However, things are not quite as quiet and peaceful as the names would have you believe during the summer season, when hundreds of holidaymakers and campers travel to the Mönchgut to enjoy the pleasures of the beach. Still, it's not as hectic and noisy here as it is in the big northern seaside resorts of Göhren and Binz, even when there's a big rush.

A few campsites alternate along the coastal stretch with car parks, both separated from the beach by a small pine forest. Ironically, one local describes the cross-section of the landscape from the beach to the campsites: "First comes the Copa Cabana, then the palm groves and then Thiessow Boulevard." Indeed, diversions of a cultural nature are rare, not to mention sophisticated villas. But there is a fine sandy Baltic Sea beach, which stretches for about 5 km and invites you to go beach walking.

At Südperd, Thiessow's eastern land nose, the observation deck of the pilot tower, which is open to visitors, offers a magnificent view. An exhibition provides information about the long history of the pilotage that was once based at the site. A hiking trail leads from here along the Baltic Sea to Nordperd, 8 km away on the steep coast near Göhren, the most easterly point on the island of Rügen.
