NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The approach is from the Baltic Sea, via the Fritzower See and the Camminer Bodden through the buoyed fairway with boats up to 2 m draft. After reaching the approach buoy K-2, you head directly for the marina and use the mighty cathedral as an approach aid. To reach the old harbour, head directly for the pier and keep closer to the shore to the west before heading for the north-western corner of the harbour.

Coming from the south, you pass through the Dievenow (fixed bridges with max. clearance 12.2m at Wollin) and have to sail around the island of Gristow (Chraszczewska Wyspa) to the west. The maximum draught must  not exceed 1.8m.

The eastern bypass of the island is not possible (shoals and a fixed bridge H=1.5m). Approach to harbours outside the 2m line north of Gristow Island is safest from approach buoy K-2 in the manner described.

In general, water levels should be carefully observed in these fairways.

Berths

There are two marinas to choose from:

The old town marina in the southwest and the new marina on the northern edge of town east of the old pier. Guest moorers can moor there on floating jetties with outriggers at water depths of 2.5m.

In the old harbour you moor inside between mooring buoys and the fixed pier at about 3m water depth or alongside on the outer pier.

Surroundings

Both harbours offer attractive services with electricity, water and sanitary facilities, which are of course more modern in the marina. There is also a repair service.

NV Land Guide

Kamień Pomorski / Cammin (population 10,000) lies a little off the Baltic coast on the Cammin Bodden. The spa town offers an old town centre worth seeing. The most important building is St. John's Cathedral, which was begun in the 12th century and rebuilt in Gothic style after a fire in the 15th century. Inside there is a Baroque organ from 1699, famous for its excellent sound, and every summer an international festival of organ and chamber music is held here. Adjacent to the building is a cathedral garden with a very old tree population.

Other sights are the Gothic bishop's palace and the late Gothic town hall, as well as the castle gate and city fortifications dating from the 14th century.
