The northern fairway is lighted so that the harbour can be approached day and night. The approach to the sound is from the east via the deck bearing of 240° until you reach the deck bearing of 176°, which leads into the harbour. During the day these lights look like telephone poles. Coming from the south, leave the small island of Lilla Sneholmen to starboard south of the Sneholm fire, from there keep heading 295° towards the first pair of buoys in the sound. The archipelago Stickby, marked with a pole, and of it the northern offshore rock with surf east of Nästången, should be noted.

Berths

Guest berths are located on the inside of the pier at the northern harbour entrance and on the inside of the concrete quay in the middle of the harbour. Here you can moor alongside or in front of stern anchors. It is also possible to moor to fishing boats by arrangement. It is not allowed to moor at the quay of the passenger boats. Water depth at the guest berths is 1.5 - 4 m. Swell protection in case of wind from all directions, in case of northerly wind the wind protection is insufficient. The current in the sound usually sets weakly to the north. At times, however, it can reach up to 2 knots.

Surroundings

The harbour of the old fishing and bathing resort is the best protected of Sydkoster. The island has a unique nature with unique flora. Large parts of the island in which many orchid species grow, are nature reserves, . Mild winters and the most sunny days in the country, that is the climate in Orsaken. At Ekenäs there is an old Bohus lime tree and at Norra Öddö there are two hornbeams, the only ones in the country. Walks and bicycle tours are a must. There are beautiful bathing bays and boat connections with the other Koster islands and Strömstad.
