Description

Fishing and sport boat harbour with guest places

NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The harbour is located close to the lit fairway and can also be approached at night. The entrance is uncomplicated, as the whole bay and sound are free of stones and shoals. Coming from the north, beware of a few rocks with surf east of Malmön's northeast tip. However, these are marked.

Berths

You can moor in front of stern anchors at the west quay in the fishing harbour from 15.06. to 15.08. (during the rest of the time this place is reserved for fishing boats). The water depth is 2 - 3 m and the protection from winds from all directions is very good here. In the harbour there is usually little current to the north. You can anchor in the bay between Malmön and Kalven. The water depth here is between 13 and 16 metres, and the anchoring ground is good. You will find shelter from winds between south and northwest.

Surroundings

There are several smaller and larger quarries on Malmön. Even though statistics show Malmön as the windiest place in Sweden, it is still very popular as a summer residence. The quarries are no longer worked, so tourism has become the main occupation. There are several cliffs for bathing, even if the quarrying has left wounds in the landscape. There is a ferry connection to Uddevalla. In the summer there are also ferry connections with Lysekil and Smögen.
