Description

Natural harbour

NV Cruising Guide

Navigation

The harbour can be approached from three directions, southeast approach is the easiest. From the fairway that runs along Sotens Svartskär, head west past Brudskär. The water is deep and clear. Steer north until you can see into the opening.

Berths

You lie on the rock alongside or in front of stern anchor on one of the numerous rock hooks, water depth 3 - 4 m. Very good protection from wind from all directions except southeast. The anchoring ground is acceptable, but anchoring is unsafe due to the depth in the narrow bay.

Surroundings

The size and depth of the harbour basin allow even larger vessels to moor here. The harbour has been used for centuries to wait for wind (or for customs to disappear...). Many drawings that can be found near the harbour are proof of this. Some of these "graffiti" date back to the 16th century. There are beautiful rocks, a great view and many bathing beaches here. The harbour is very popular, so in the summer months you are rarely alone here. Dry toilet is available.
