NV Cruising Guide
Navigation
From the Malmön fairway, round Björnholmen to the east to be on the safe side. Once you have passed the pair of pricks, you continue in the middle of the bay to the berth. You can also sail through the narrow sound between Keö and Björnholmen. At the narrowest part you have to keep very close to Keö because of the shoal; 7 to max. 10 m distance to the beach is just right. The bay northwest of Keö can only be approached by boats with a draught of less than 1 m.
Berths
You lie before stern anchor at marked places on the north side of the island at water depths of 2 - 2,3 m. Here you have very good protection from sea and wind from southeast to southwest. East of the northern tip of the island you are well protected from westerly winds. Rock hooks are available (see map). The anchoring ground is good. However, there are places overgrown with sea grass with poorer grip.
Surroundings
Keö is a very beautiful island with high, round rocks between which lush vegetation thrives. On Keö sheep are kept, which keep the meadows short. There are magnificent cliffs for swimming and a unique view from the hills.
