The approach is lit and the harbour can be entered day and night. Coming from the sea, it is best to approach Bredbåden's light buoy. From there you can follow the leading light on course 050°. There are often cross seas at the Systrarna shoal. There, the current often sets to the north, so it is best to keep a good head of steam in the ship. The leading light line only goes as far as the outer harbour area, Hamnefjorden, but there are no more obstacles on the way to the inner harbour. If you are coming from the south through the archipelago, watch out for the shoal north of Bockholmen. The dense traffic in the sound and fairway around Skärhamn requires attention.

Berths

You moor with stern buoys at the floating jetties in front of the concrete quay of the southern harbour at 3.5 - 4 m water depth. After arrangement also free other places can be used. The harbour is very well protected against wind from all directions. It is possible to anchor in the outer harbour area, but swell runs in when the wind blows from the south-west. The anchorage is also disturbed by heavy traffic.

Surroundings

Skärhamn is Tjörn's main town. Seafaring was and still is the largest industry. There are still several shipping companies here. The harbour is active and a little noisy, but the atmosphere is generally welcoming and hospitable. Don't miss the maritime museum! In summer there are often cultural events. Bus connections are available, especially with Stenungssund.
