NV Cruising Guide
Navigation
Those unfamiliar with the area should approach the well buoyed and lit harbour from the north. One must pay attention to the - especially in the port area - at times very hard setting current, which can reach a strength of up to 4 knots. Therefore, if possible, you should sail through the fairway under engine power in order to remain manoeuvrable. The maximum speed in the harbour area is 4 kn. The Lundaakra marina is accessed via a buoyed dredging channel, which has a target depth of 5 m.
Berths
The large and modern suburban marina Lundaakrahamnen at the
south-eastern part of the industrial harbour is very comfortable,
but because of the long distance of almost two kilometres to the
city centre it is rarely used by guest berth holders.
Surroundings
Lundåkra is equipped with all the amenities of a modern marina (including kiosk, fuel, washing machines, bicycle rental). The marina has STF guest harbour standard. In the village itself you will find very good shopping facilities.
NV Land Guide
A giant water tower, its top reminiscent of a flying saucer, overshadows the harbor. Lying under the futuristic concrete building may cause trepidation in anyone who is suspicious of contemporary structural engineers. But for those who (like the Vikings of old) are only afraid of the sky falling on their heads, a small water tower will not frighten them. And apart from the three-legged water reservoir, the surrounding area has its charms, which is mainly due to the extensive citadel area north of the harbour. This military installation from the Middle Ages, which is today greened and surrounded by a moat, goes back to the Danish King Christian III. Built in 1549, it now serves as a museum. In addition, restaurants have established themselves here and artisans have set up shop.
Unfortunately, large parts of the medieval buildings fell victim to the construction of the citadel and the redoubts on the island of Graaen south of the harbour, so Landskrona has hardly any historical treasures from that period. One of the exceptions is a half-timbered house built in 1627 in Stora Norregatan.
The city's most famous "daughter" is the teacher Selma Lagerlöf, who wrote the later world-famous novel "'Gösta Berling" around 1890 in Kungsgatan 13.
The white bathhouse built into the Sound to the west of the marina attracts fewer visitors today than the outdoor pool close to the moorings, but it is a gem from the early days of bathing culture. You can also enjoy the sun's rays on the terrace of the Café "Mat" directly at the harbour. The enjoyment is, however, diminished by the unrest caused by the ferry traffic (to Copenhagen and the island of Ven) and the nearby industrial harbour, making Landskrona only a conditionally recommendable harbour.
Much more minus points can be found in the south-eastern marina of Lundakrå, which lies on the edge of a large industrial area. With the appropriate backdrop and around 50 advertising posters in mind, a number of weekenders feel at home in rust-brown wooden huts at the harbour. The distance to the town centre is about two kilometres. A kiosk is available.
