Information

The weir group with the Quitzöbel barge lock is the last barrage on the Havel. From here, pleasure boats can travel a further 11km via the Gnevsdorfer Vorfluter (a Brandenburg state waterway) to the Elbe. At the barge lock at Gnevsdorf the boats are then lowered to the level of the Elbe. The Gnevsdorfer Vorfluter is an artificial extension of the Havel, whereby the natural mouth at Quitzöbel was shifted to a lower Elbe level, in order to ensure the discharge also with Elbhochwasser.
From 22 to 5 o'clock and on Sa, Su and holidays from 12 to 15 o'clock there is a driving prohibition for sport boats with combustion engine. During the congestion period (at Elbe low water) you should stay in the buoyed fairway, the WT can then fall below 1m and the current increases sharply.
