Description

Kali, the oldest and with 1600 inhabitants the biggest place on the island of Ugljan, is located on the peninsula on Rt. Rahovaca with an old harbor basin in Luka Kali for small boats. Here is the old place with the houses built of field stones and narrow streets.
In the southeast of the peninsula is a newer port in Uvala Bataloza, here are the larger fishing boats. In the inner part small local boats are moored and guests may also find a place. At the harbor is a small bar with snack. Both harbors are connected by a nice shore path and here are also several restaurants along the way. In the village you can find several supermarkets, fish market, tourist office, restaurants, post office and a hospital.
The village was first mentioned around 1300 and is dominated by the baroque church Sv.Lovre, which was built in 1698 on older foundations. A fishing festival is held in the church square in July/August during the full moon. The small church of St. Pelegrin (14th century) stands on a hill above the village.
