Murter Stadt - Murter

The place Murter at the deep Uvala Hramina on the northeast side of the island Murter is a very protected harbor with 2 marinas. The fairway (max speed 4kn)  passes a large, stony shallow water area on the west side. On the east side is the 62m high Gradina peninsula with a chapel and cemetery on the shore. Then you can see the red-fired pier  of Marina Hramina (400 berths - crane 15t -travelift - 70t).  It handles  the service for the numerous regattas. A yacht outfitter on the premises and the yachts of several charter companies are moored here.

In the village are several diving schools with tours to the impressive underwater world of Kornati. The administrative office for the National Park Kornati is located at the  port.

In the harbor bay are on the shore small and larger jetties. Some restaurants  also offer their guests free mooring.

In the middle of the bay are two larger jetties, here is the supermarket directly on the shore road. In this part of the bay you can anchor well on loamy ground on  3-6m water depth.

The place Murter pulls itself with the development the with 125m highest mountain of the island "Raduc" up. The churches far above is perceptible as a well visible landmark. The view over the island world of the Kornati is worth the way uphill.

The island of Murter has been populated for about 2,000 years and there are ruins everywhere on the island. When you enter the town of Murter, on the shore of the Gradina peninsula are the ruins of the ancient city of Colentum, which had its heyday in the times of the Roman emperors Nero (about 37 - 68 AD) and Vespasian. In the 13th century on the island of Murter there were the settlements of Jezera and Murter. The villages of Betina and Tisno were built in the 15th century at the time of the Ottoman conquests, when the population fled from the mainland to the islands.
