Sibenik - Marina Mandalina

Sibenik - a big city on the river Krka with an old town worth seeing and other historical buildings. The city quay (2-4m water depth) is located in front of the old town on the waterfront, just south of the fire at the gas station. Here you are very central but very restless because of the passing ships. Marina Mandalina is located on the whole western shore of the peninsula in Uvala Sveti Petar, 440 berths up to 70m in length, 50t Travellift, 30t dry dock and a shipyard. The mega yachts in the northern part of the peninsula. The marina staff helps with mooring and docking. The fuel station is across the bay on the other shore and there is a lot of activity there when changing charter boats. A mini-market is right by the charter yachts and the restaurant. The way to the supermarket is not far, but to the centre of Sibenik you should take a taxi. Local small boats are moored in Uvala Vrzoza, the shallow bay north of the peninsula.

 Šibenik was first mentioned in 1066 as the fortified fort of St Michael (now St Anna). From 1119 to 1133 it was under Venetian rule, then Byzantine until 1180 and then Hungarian-Croatian. From 1412 to 1797 again under Venetian rule and until 1918 it came to Austria-Hungary. 

The list of cultural monuments from the eventful history of the city is long, but in any case you should visit the cathedral Sveti Jakova, it is together with the fortifications on the UNESO list of World Heritage Sites.
