Beschreibung

The capital of the British Virgin Islands and a port of entry. The wide bay is the center of the local yachting industry, offers good marinas and is equally the base of various charter companies.

Anchoring within the harbour and its approach is only allowed with prior permission by the port authority.

The various marinas are approached through the buoyed and lit main channel into Road Harbour toward the inner harbor, which has a depth of around 3 to 3.3 m.

Inner Harbour and Village Cay Marina
These marinas are located near the city and have good facilities, water depths of 2-4 meters. VHF 16. 

Anchorages
A limited number of moorings are located in the inner harbor in front of the mooring marina in 6 m of water, however the hold in the mud is poor. Just outside is a choppy day anchorage in about about 3.5 m of water; holding is poor on coral gravel. The anchorage northwest of Road Reef is uncomfortable and unpleasant due to passing ferries, but holding is good on sand in about 2-8 m of water. Keep clear of the buoyed fairway to Fort Burt marina.

 

Versorgung

Road Town is a port of entry with customs, immigration, Maritime Police and Port Authority. It offers all facilities for provisioning and repairs, dive stores and a fish market.
