Information

Anchorage prohibited area - east of the line Dugi Rat to the Council Maslinica. In the inner Starogradski Zaljev, just in front of the village of Stari Grad, an alga has spread, which is further spread by the anchors of the ships.

Caulerpa taxifolia, is a green alga, it reproduces asexually. It overgrows the native seagrass meadows and thereby destroys the livelihood of the animals, hence the name "killer algae".

The green alga is a popular aquarium plant and reached probably 1984 from the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco  to the sea outside.
