Surroundings

There are modern sanitary facilities. In the nearby picturesque village you will find several pubs and restaurants. A small shopping centre is located just outside the village on the main road to Zingst (approx. 1.5km). A hunting and forestry museum is located in the old Oberförsterei.

NV Land Guide

Over three kilometres Born stretches from east to west. That means a long walk for the sports boaters who want to get to know the spread-out village thoroughly. But the extended walk is worth it, because Born is considered one of the most beautiful villages on the Darß. So you walk past a number of listed houses that still date from the heyday of seafaring. Many captains and helmsmen lived here during the 17th and 18th centuries, as in most of the other villages on the Darß. And today tourism is the number one attraction in Born. The village's campsite can accommodate almost 4,000 campers.

Five marked hiking trails lead north of Born into the Darß forest (see also Prerow). They take you, for example, through the Altdarß to the Baltic beach at the Rehbergen or to the "Grandmother", as a piece of forest two kilometres north of the village is called.

Born is the seat of the head forester's office of the protected Darß forest. The old forestry building from 1770 is a listed building.

At the harbour, two snack bars offer a selection of fish dishes. There is also a good restaurant there, others in the nearby village centre (max 5 min walk). Always on the first Saturday in July, the harbour festival takes place with an arts and crafts market, music, dragon boat races and culinary delights.
