Description

Pucisca and Supetar are the largest towns on the island of Brac today. The old town with a long tradition of stonemasonry and the school of stonemasonry founded 100 years ago was early a cultural center of Brac, in 1516 the first private school on the island was founded here. Well-known writers, builders and famous stonemasons worked here, selecting and cutting the material - marble - at the quarry on the coast.

The large quarry Veselje, northeast of Pucisca,  was  for the village the most important source of income.
The stone sculptor Andrija Alesi leased the quarry in 1455 and modeled his most important works here.

Next to the parish church is the hotel "Deskovic", in the former Deskovic palace. The place is known for its many, imposing palaces, the Renaissance Ciprijan Zuvetic's palace or the Moro family palace, today the Pucisca municipal administration. There are numerous churches to visit, at the church of St. Stephen and the cemetery is one of the oldest settlements with a pagan altar and a Roman tomb.
In the surroundings of Pucisca, as on the whole island of Brac, olive and fig trees stand next to vines and sheep  or goats run through the countryside.
In the summer there are numerous cultural events.
It is certainly not boring in this place.
