The harbour is unlit and should therefore only be approached at night with good local knowledge. Even with good visibility the approach is challenging. The safest way is from the north through Kostersundet. You run in the deck bearing (2 F.R.) to the islands Eleven and Hällsholmen, change course to the east and pass the beacon Siesådan to the north. Then change course to 135° until you reach the northern corner of Teneskär. Now you can head for the harbour.

Berths

You are moored off stern anchor on the inside of the western breakwater. Please note that you are not allowed to moor at the bridge of the passenger boats. However, you can moor there for a short time, e.g. to bunker fresh water. The water depth is 3.3 m. The harbour offers good protection from swell with wind from all directions, the wind protection is a little less good with wind from southwest and west.

Surroundings

Sydkoster has a great nature with unique fauna and a peculiar landscape. Mild winters and the most sunny days in the country in summer - this is how the climate in Orsaken presents itself. Many orchids grow here. At Ekenäs there is an old Bohus lime tree, which together with two hornbeams on Norra Öddö are the only ones in the whole country. Large parts of the island are nature reserve. The island invites to walks and bicycle tours and has also beautiful bath bays. There are boat connections with the rest of the Koster Islands and Strömstad.
